Most people drive to the Poconos: I-80 from New York and New Jersey, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Northeast Extension (I-476) from Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley. Martz buses run from New York's Port Authority to Mount Pocono and Stroudsburg, and the closest airports with airline service are Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Lehigh Valley.
Below are the exits for each of our towns, what the tolls are, and how to get around once you're here (you'll want a car: buses don't reach the lake communities).
By car: the exit for your town
- Lake Harmony, Albrightsville, Blakeslee and Long Pond: I-80 Exit 284 (PA 115), or the Turnpike's Pocono interchange (95), which meets I-80 at Exit 277 (PA 940). The Turnpike's SR903 interchange (87) is handy for Lake Harmony and Jim Thorpe.
- Pocono Lake: I-80 Exit 277 (PA 940).
- Pocono Summit, Mount Pocono and Pocono Pines: I-80 Exit 293 to I-380 north, then Exit 3 (PA 940) or Exit 8 (PA 611 / PA 423).
- Tannersville and Camelback: I-80 Exit 299 (PA 715).
- Penn Estates, East Stroudsburg and the Delaware Water Gap: I-80 Exits 309 and 310.
- From Scranton and Wilkes-Barre: I-380 south, or the Turnpike's Northeast Extension south from Wilkes-Barre (105) to Pocono (95).
Tolls
- I-80 Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge: charged only westbound, into Pennsylvania, and cashless. In 2026 a car pays $2.00 with E-ZPass or $5.00 by plate.
- Pennsylvania Turnpike, including the Northeast Extension: all-electronic, no cash and no stopping. E-ZPass saves nearly half; without it, a Toll By Plate bill is mailed to the car's owner. Use the Turnpike's toll calculator for your exact trip.
- I-80 and I-380 inside Pennsylvania have no tolls.
By bus
Martz Trailways runs from New York's Port Authority Bus Terminal to Mount Pocono (2 Fork Street), Marshalls Creek, the Route 447 Park & Ride and Stroudsburg/Delaware Water Gap, about 17 trips each way on weekdays and 6 on weekends on the posted schedule. Book online or call 570-821-3800, and check the current schedule before you travel. Greyhound uses the same Mount Pocono stop. Martz's Philadelphia express doesn't stop in the Poconos.
The local Monroe County buses (MCTA) serve Stroudsburg, Tannersville and Mount Pocono, mostly Monday to Saturday, but not the lake communities, so plan on a car or a ride from the bus stop.
By air
- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International (AVP): American, United and Breeze, with rental cars, taxis, Uber and Lyft. American's "flight" from Philadelphia to AVP is actually a Landline bus.
- Lehigh Valley International (ABE), Allentown: Allegiant, American, Delta and United, with rental cars, Uber and Lyft.
- Newark, JFK, LaGuardia and Philadelphia are farther but have the most flights; rent a car there.
- Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport (MPO) in Tobyhanna is for private planes only, with no airline service.
By train
No passenger trains reach the Poconos yet. NJ Transit is restoring the Lackawanna Cutoff toward Andover, NJ, and a proposed Amtrak Scranton-to-New York route would stop at Mount Pocono and Stroudsburg, but neither had an opening date as of late October 2026.
Winter driving
- Check 511PA (website, app or dial 5-1-1) before you leave: winter road conditions, traffic cameras and when state roads were last plowed.
- Keep an emergency kit in the car: a scraper, a small shovel, blankets, water, snacks and a phone charger.
- Clear all the snow and ice off your car, roof included, before you drive.
- Our hosts can tell you whether the driveway is steep and how it's plowed; ask in your booking request if you're coming in a storm.
