Plan around the pet rules in parks and lake communities: dogs are welcome on many trails but not on most swimming beaches.
Pet rules to know
- Pennsylvania state parks: pets are allowed in day-use areas on a leash or otherwise physically controlled, but not in swimming areas or buildings. Electronic leashes aren't allowed, and rabies shots must be current.
- Lake communities set their own rules. Arrowhead Lakes, for example, bans pets from beaches, pools and playgrounds.
- Always pick up after your dog, and check each home's pet policy and fee before booking.
