What “Verified Host” means
Last updated October 24, 2026
Rental scams are the biggest worry when booking outside the big sites. The Verified Host badge is how we address it.
Before a host gets the badge, we check that
- The host is real. We match a government-issued ID to the owner of record, or confirm the host's written authority to manage the home (for example, a property management agreement).
- The rental is permitted. Where the township requires a short-term rental permit or license, we confirm the host holds a current one.
- The listing is accurate. The photos, address area, sleeping capacity and amenities match the home.
We re-check permits each year, and we remove the badge, or the listing, if a host no longer meets these standards.
What the badge does not mean
Poconos Vacation Rentals is a listing service. We don't own, manage or inspect homes, and we're not a party to any rental. The badge doesn't guarantee a home's condition or a host's performance. Your rental agreement, payment, deposit, cancellation terms and stay are between you and the host.
Tips for a safe rental
- Get a written rental agreement before paying, and read the cancellation and deposit terms.
- Pay by a traceable method, such as a credit card or a payment link from the host's business. Never pay by wire transfer or gift card.
- If anything seems off, or a host asks you to pay somewhere unusual, email us at hello@vacationrentalspoconos.com before you pay.
