Emerald Lakes is a wooded lake community in Long Pond, in Monroe County, set just off I-80 and I-380. It's one of the easiest Pocono communities to reach and one of the best placed: Pocono Raceway is minutes away, and the Jack Frost and Big Boulder ski areas, Kalahari's indoor waterpark and Camelback are all a short drive.
Inside the community you'll find several small lakes with beaches, plus a lodge and outdoor sports courts, so it works just as well for a summer lake week as for a winter ski weekend.
Lakes and community amenities
Emerald Lakes has several lakes with beaches. Rental listings also describe the Emerald Lodge (with an indoor pool and game room), a seasonal outdoor pool, and tennis, pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts. Renters buy Emerald Lakes Association (ELA) amenity passes for the days they want to use them, and boats on the lakes may use electric trolling motors only.

Community rules for renters
Emerald Lakes is a residential community where families live full time, and the association fines renters for breaking its rules (from $25 up to $750, more for repeat violations). The main ones, from the ELA's renter summary (revised January 2025):
- Your host must register you with the association at least 24 hours before you arrive, so send your guest details promptly when asked.
- Noise: keep it reasonable, and no foul language ($250 fine). Fines are heavier between 10 PM and 8 AM.
- No fireworks, and no firing of guns, bows, paintball guns or BB guns ($750 fine).
- Speed limit 25 MPH. No ATVs, snowmobiles or off-road vehicles on community roads. Park only in the driveway or designated areas, never on the road, shoulder or grass.
- Trash must be secured from animals, and recycling is mandatory. Ask your host how trash works: either a scheduled pickup, or the community compactor with the trash badge left at the house (two large bags per day). Dumping anywhere else is a $500 fine.
- No loitering in common areas from dusk to dawn.
- Boats must be registered at the Association Office ($10 per boat), use electric trolling motors only, and carry a life vest for every person.
- Fishing is catch and release, and all bass must be released. You need an ELA amenity badge, an ELA fishing permit ($15 per person at the Association Office) and, for anyone 16 or older, a Pennsylvania fishing license.
- Please don't feed the deer.
- This is a summary; the full rules are at elainc.org.
