Penn Estates is a gated lake community just northwest of East Stroudsburg, on the eastern side of the Poconos, which makes it one of the closest Pocono lake communities to New York City and New Jersey.
Inside the gates are three lakes, some with sandy beaches, plus community pools, a clubhouse with year-round activities, and tennis and basketball courts. Outside them, the Delaware Water Gap, Shawnee Mountain and The Crossings outlets are all a short drive.
Lakes and community amenities
Penn Estates has three lakes with beaches and fishing, community swimming pools (open Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather and lifeguards permitting), a clubhouse, and courts for tennis and basketball. Rental guests typically receive access passes for the lakes, pools and courts. Your host will confirm exactly what's included for your stay.
How renting works here
The Penn Estates Property Owners Association requires owners to register every short-term guest at least three days before arrival, with a signed lease, and guests must follow the community's rules. Owners must also hold a Stroud Township short-term rental license. Your host takes care of all of this. You just need to book early enough for the registration to go through.
