Snow tubing is the easiest winter fun in the Poconos: no lessons, no gear, just a 1 to 2-hour session on groomed lanes with a lift back to the top. The big parks run at night under lights, and most now sell sessions online ahead of time, so book before you go.
Big Boulder's tube park is in Lake Harmony, right by our homes there and in Blakeslee and Albrightsville. Camelback, Shawnee and Skytop are an easy drive from our Long Pond, Pocono Summit and Penn Estates homes.
The tubing parks
- Big Boulder Tube Park (Lake Harmony): two 600-foot conveyor lifts, 2-hour sessions, online tickets only (nothing held for walk-ups). Riders 4+ and at least 42 inches, single riders only. Jack Frost doesn't have its own tubing; it's all at Big Boulder.
- Camelback Snow Tubing (Tannersville): more than 40 lanes with Magic Carpet lifts and night tubing. 2-hour sessions starting on the hour. Riders 44 inches and up ride alone; 33 to 43 inches ride with an adult; under 33 inches can't ride.
- Blue Mountain (Palmerton): more than 55 lanes, billed as the country's biggest tubing park, with music-and-lights night sessions after 5 PM. Riders 36 inches and up, no age limit, 2-hour sessions.
- Shawnee Mountain (East Stroudsburg): 1.5-hour sessions with a conveyor lift, online only; online sales start in early November. Riders 4+; adult-and-child tandem tubes for kids 46 inches or shorter. A 5:30 PM session runs Wednesday to Sunday on night-skiing nights.
- Skytop Lodge (Skytop): a small hill with 1-hour sessions capped at 30 people, day and evening; reserve ahead. Riders 4+; 40 inches to ride alone, 33 to 40 inches on a double tube with an adult.
- Ski Big Bear at Masthope (Lackawaxen): weekends and holidays only, 2-hour slots, everyone 42 inches and up (even with a parent), 280 lb limit. No night tubing.
- Montage Mountain has closed its tubing area for 2026-27 (it's a terrain park now).
Tips
- Buy your session online in advance: several parks sell online only, and weekend and holiday sessions sell out.
- Arrive 20 to 30 minutes before your session to park, sign the waiver and get to the lanes.
- Measure your kids: height rules are strict, and the minimum differs by park (33 to 44 inches).
- Dress for snow: waterproof pants, gloves and boots. Helmets aren't required at most parks, but warm layers are a must for night sessions.
- Opening depends on snow and cold. Most parks open in mid to late December; check each park's site before you drive.
