You can rent skis, boots and snowboards right at the mountain, or pick them up the night before at a local shop so you're on the first chair instead of in the rental line.
Here's what we could confirm for this season. Shop hours and rental options change, so call or check online before you go.
Rental shops at the mountains
- Jack Frost and Big Boulder: each mountain has its own Rental and Retail shop. The resort's site sells rentals with lift tickets and says you save when you book in advance. Group lessons can be bundled with tickets and rentals.
- Camelback, Tannersville: rents every day, for all ages. The ski package includes skis, boots, poles and a helmet; the snowboard package includes a board, boots and a helmet. Premium sets are available.
- Blue Mountain, Palmerton: rental shops at the Valley Lodge and the Summit Lodge, with lift-and-rental packages. The True Blue shop at the Valley Lodge does tuning and repairs.
- Skytop Lodge, Skytop: has ski rental, with higher rates for non-guests than for resort guests.
Local shops
- Peterson's Ski & Cycle, Blakeslee (5646 Route 115, 570-646-9223): a four-season shop since 1992 with daily and seasonal ski and snowboard rentals, tuning and bikes. Call to confirm hours.
- Pocono Ski Rentals, Tannersville: at the foot of Big Pocono near Camelback, renting and selling new and used gear, with online pre-registration.
Which to choose
- We found no ski shop in Lake Harmony or Albrightsville itself, apart from Big Boulder's on-mountain rental shop, so Peterson's in Blakeslee is the nearest independent shop we know of for those homes.
- If you're skiing Camelback, the Tannersville shops are right by the mountain.
